Kia Expands Electric Lineup with EV4 and Concept EV2
Introducing advanced electric vehicles for diverse driving needs

Kia has unveiled two new additions to its electric vehicle (EV) lineup: the production-ready EV4 and the Concept EV2. These models aim to cater to a wide range of drivers, from those seeking a compact urban vehicle to enthusiasts desiring a spacious sedan with extended range capabilities.

Kia EV4: A New Standard in Electric Sedans

The Kia EV4 is set to redefine the electric sedan market with its impressive range and advanced features. Built on Kia’s Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the EV4 offers a sleek design and a spacious interior. The vehicle is equipped with an 81.4 kWh battery pack, providing an estimated range of up to 630 kilometers on a single charge, based on the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP). This substantial range ensures that drivers can undertake long journeys with confidence, reducing the need for frequent charging stops.

Charging efficiency is a highlight of the EV4. The 400-volt architecture enables rapid charging capabilities, allowing the battery to replenish from 10% to 80% in approximately 31 minutes when connected to a compatible fast charger. This quick turnaround is ideal for drivers with active lifestyles, minimizing downtime during travel.

Performance-wise, the EV4 features a front-wheel-drive configuration powered by a single electric motor delivering 150 kW (approximately 201 horsepower). This setup ensures a balanced blend of efficiency and responsiveness, making daily commutes and highway driving equally enjoyable. The vehicle’s aerodynamic design not only enhances its visual appeal but also contributes to its impressive range and performance metrics.

Inside the cabin, the EV4 boasts a 30-inch widescreen display that seamlessly integrates the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system. This expansive screen provides drivers with easy access to navigation, media, and vehicle settings, all presented in high-definition clarity. The inclusion of an AI voice assistant further enhances the user experience, allowing for hands-free control of various functions. Additionally, the EV4 offers digital key access via compatible smartwatches, providing a modern and convenient approach to vehicle entry and operation.

Production of the EV4 is slated to commence in Korea and Slovakia, with the first units expected to arrive in showrooms by March 2025. The vehicle will be available in both traditional sedan and hatchback configurations, catering to diverse consumer preferences. Pricing is anticipated to start at approximately €37,000, positioning the EV4 as a competitive option in the electric sedan market.

Concept EV2: A Glimpse into Kia’s Electric Future

Alongside the EV4, Kia has introduced the Concept EV2, a compact electric SUV designed for urban environments. While currently a concept, the EV2 showcases Kia’s commitment to innovation and adaptability in the EV sector. The vehicle features a minimalist design with clean lines, star-shaped lighting elements, and a geometric wheel pattern, presenting a modern aesthetic that aligns with contemporary urban sensibilities.

One of the standout features of the Concept EV2 is its reconfigurable interior. The cabin is designed to maximize space utilization, offering flexible seating arrangements to accommodate various passenger and cargo needs. Innovative elements such as removable triangular speakers and a sliding front bench seat enhance the vehicle’s versatility, making it well-suited for city dwellers who require both functionality and style in their transportation.

Technologically, the Concept EV2 is equipped with vehicle-to-load (V2L) charging capabilities, allowing the vehicle to supply power to external devices, a feature particularly useful during outdoor activities or emergencies. Over-the-air updates ensure that the vehicle’s software remains current, providing drivers with the latest features and improvements without the need for dealership visits.

While specific performance metrics and battery specifications for the Concept EV2 have not been fully disclosed, Kia has indicated that a production version of this model is expected to be unveiled before the end of 2025. This forthcoming addition to Kia’s EV lineup is poised to offer an affordable and practical solution for urban mobility, expanding the brand’s reach in the electric vehicle market.

Kia’s introduction of the EV4 and Concept EV2 underscores the company’s dedication to providing a diverse range of electric vehicles tailored to meet the evolving needs of drivers. These models exemplify Kia’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and user-centric design, offering compelling options for those looking to transition to electric mobility.
