Big News for Ford EV Owners
New Access to the Tesla Charging Network

Starting in Spring 2024, owners of Ford electric vehicles, including the Mustang Mach-E and F150 Lightning will gain access to over 15,000 Tesla Superchargers across the United States and Canada. This integration effectively doubles the fast-charging options available to Ford EV owners, addressing one of the primary concerns potential EV buyers have: the availability of reliable charging stations.

The collaboration is more than just an expansion of charging infrastructure; it’s a nod to the evolving needs of EV owners and the industry’s move towards a more unified charging ecosystem. Ford’s decision to transition its future EVs to the North American Charging Standard (NACS) by 2025 is a testament to this, aiming to eliminate the need for adapters and streamline the charging process.

The BlueOval™ Charge Network, already North America’s most extensive public charging network, will incorporate Tesla Superchargers, thereby significantly enhancing the charging landscape for Ford EV customers. This integration promises not just an expanded network but also an improved charging experience with features like automatic routing to the nearest charger and seamless billing through the FordPass app.

Ford EV customers will initially need a Tesla-developed adapter to connect their vehicles to the Supercharger network. Recognizing the importance of seamless integration and in a gesture of appreciation to their EV customers, Ford is offering the Fast Charging Adapter (NACS) at no cost to new and existing customers enrolled in the BlueOval™ Charge Network until June 30, 2024. Retail customers who wish to avail themselves of this offer can reserve their adapter through a dedicated portal, ensuring they have the necessary equipment to access the Tesla Supercharger network.

This pioneering move by Ford and Tesla is not just about enhancing the practical aspects of EV ownership; it’s a significant step towards building an interconnected and interoperable charging network. It reflects a shared vision for a sustainable future, where the barriers to EV adoption are steadily dismantled, making electric mobility an accessible and convenient choice for all.
